LEVPROT BIOSCIENCE is a biotechnological company specialized on the design and development of innovative protocols for the obtention and production of recombinant proteins in yeast (Komagataella phaffii, Kluyveromyces lactis and others), with great process performance and high-quality standards. All their products are offered either in solution or in their lyophilyzed format. |
Products
LEVPROT BIOSCIENCE is expert on the expression of recombinant proteins in yeast cells. Yeasts combine their easy manipulation with their lack of pathogenicity under solid, ecologic, sustainable and profitable growing conditions.
LEVPROT gives an answer to a series of limitations and technological barriers detected on the recombinant proteins sector with different applications.
LEVPROT provides an attractive portfolio of innovative proteins, with great added value, faced to three main industries: food industry, biopharmaceutical industry and in vitro diagnosis.
IN VITRO Diagnosis
COVID-19 has shown the importance of the in vitro diagnosis industry for the new challenges in the sociosanitary sector.
For that, at LEVPROT we design and develop highly specific and functional proteins expression and purification processes, in a scalable and profitable system: yeast cells.
- Have a favorable impact on the efficiency and specificity of the developments of a cutting-edge and highly specialized clinical diagnostic industry.
- Expression of proteins in yeast allows to avoid possible problems derived from the use of prokaryotic cells as hosts.
- All the enzymes and proteins obtained are RNase-free and endotoxin-free.
-
Taq Polymerase
- Description:
- Thermostable 5’-3’ DNA polymerase from Thermus aquaticus overexpressed in K. phaffii.
- Added Value:
- LEVPROT offers a completely functional Taq polymerase from Thermus aquaticus expressed on an eukaryotic system, allowing to avoid false positives during the detection of prokaryotic DNA, infectious diseases or antibiotic resistances.
-
Cyst wall protein 1 from Giardia intestinalis
- Description:
- Cwp1 plays a fundamental role on the creation of cysts that allow the survival of the parasite Giardia intestinalis when it is outside of its host. It is a highly specific antigen.
- Added Value:
- LEVPROT produces the antigen Cwp1 from Giardia intestinalis with a very high grade of purity both in its monomeric and trimeric conformations.
-
DNase I
- Description:
- The DNase I produced in LEVPROT is an bovine endonuclease that digest nonspecifically single strand DNA, double strand DNA, chromatin and DNA:RNA hybrids, generating from mono to oligonucleotides, all of them phosphorylated at 5’ and hydroxylated at 3’. Its activity depends strictly in the presence of the bivalent cations Ca2+ and Mg2+ or Mn2+.
- Added Value:
- LEVPROT’s DNase I, original from Bos taurus, is free from RNases and endotoxins, is produced with histidine tag, and provides a specific activity of 10.000 U/ml. It can be acquired in solution, glycerol-free or lyophilized.
-
Thermolabile double-strand DNA specific DNase
- Description:
- Thermolabile endonuclease that digest preferently double strand DNA in presence of Mg2+, using oligos as substrates. It becomes unactivated at 52 ℃.
- Added Value:
- This enzyme’s thermolability ease its use on hot-start PCR reactions. It is sold in a glycerol-free format at a concentration of 2.000 U/mL, and resists several thaw/freeze cycles.
-
SARS-CoV-2 RBD
- Description:
- Receptor binding domain of the protein SARS-CoV-2, overexpressed in K. phaffii.
- Added Value:
- LEVPROT offers a functional, stable and highly pure version of the RBD antigen from SARS-CoV-2.
-
κ-Caseine from Bos taurus
- Description:
- k-Caseine is the most related fraction of the milk caseins to the performance on the obtention of cheese from milk. The obtention of a well characterized and homogeneous recombinant k-Caseine is essential for the transition to a production of dairy products totally independent from animals.
- Added Value:
- LEVPROT produces a smaller and soluble recombinant version of the k-Casein with similar properties, functionality and stability than the original, but secreted by yeast cells. This k-Casein can be used, in addition, as an homogeneous blocking agent against unspecific unions between biomolecules.
-
Reverse transcriptase from Murine Leukemia Virus
- Description:
- Reverse transcriptase from Murine leukemia virus, overexpressed in K. phaffii. Being able to synthesize a double strand DNA from a template strand of RNA. It is a fundamental protein in the development of different therapies and in the development of vaccines against COVID19.
- Added Value:
- LEVPROT BIOSCIENCE offers a stable, pure and functional reverse transcriptase, expressed in eukaryotic cells, reducing the risk of false positives during the detection of genetic material from prokaryotic organisms.
BIOPHARMA
LEVPROT develops and produces key proteins for the realization of biotechnological therapies using yeast as main expression organism.
COVID19 crisis has shown the importance of having set-up the most versatile and recent biotechnological technologies, who have allowed to develop in a record time mRNA based vaccines, and that aim to escalate its processes to an industrial stage.
- The optimized and scalable production of functional recombinant proteins is a growing field inside the biopharmaceutical industry, crucial in the way of developing increasingly advanced therapies.
- We are an ally to biopharmaceutical companies dedicated to the production of vaccines or other therapies based on RNA or other biomolecules, such as nanobodies. We can develop the R&D and optimization of a scalable and highly specific productive process for the different proteins and enzymes.
-
Inorganic pyrophosphatase 1 (iPP1) from K. phaffii
- Description:
- Inorganic pyrophosphatase 1 is in charge of catalyzing the hydrolysis of pyrophosphate in inorganic phospate. It plays a fundamental role in DNA and RNA synthesis, being dependent on Mg2+.
- Added Value:
- LEVPROT overexpresses and purifies iPP1 from K. phaffi in yeast cells, obtaining a dimeric protein, with or without histidine tag, with great purity and with a specific activity of 200 U/mg. The efficiency, rentability and functionality of the product is maintained both in its lyophilized version and in its solution version.
-
DNase I
- Description:
- The DNase I produced in LEVPROT is an bovine endonuclease that digest nonspecifically single strand DNA, double strand DNA, chromatin and hybrids DNA: RNA, generating from mono to oligonucleotides, all of them phosphorylated at 5′ and hydroxylated at 3′. Its activity depends strictly in the presence of the bivalent cations Ca2+ y Mg2+ o Mn2+ .Its use is widely spread in therapies in which RNA is used and DNA must be eliminated.
- Added Value:
- The use of eukaryotic hosts avoids problems of cross contaminations with prokaryotic DNA and RNA. LEVPROT’s DNase I is offered, in addition to RNase-free, with histidine tag and with a specific activity of 10.000 U/ml, both in solution and lyophilized. The biofermentation process introduced by LEVPROT involves a clear advanve in efficiency, sustainability and global rentability.
