The biological activity is checked in suitable assay, for Active Bioscience’s premium grade in direct comparison with the respective WHO-Standard. Most products are sterile filtered and offer a shelf of two or more years. For easy and inexpensive shipping the stability of the lyophilized products is tested at room temperature and guaranteed for 1-4 weeks. Description:
Recombinant Human Serum Albumin (HSA) ultra pure derived from oryza sativa is a 585 amino acid protein, with a molecular mass of 67 kDa. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin which has an N-terminal peptide that is removed before the nascent protein is released from the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The product, proalbumin, is in turn cleaved in the Golgi vesicles to produce the secreted albumin. Albumin is a soluble, monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein. Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. The human albumin gene is 16,961 nucleotides long from the putative cap site to the first poly (A) addition site. It is split into 15 exons which are symmetrically placed within the 3 domains that are thought to have arisen by triplication of a single primordial domain. Mutations in this gene on chromosome 4 result in various anomalous proteins. HSA is widely used to stabilize blood volume generally from donors but the fear of contamination such as HIV & Hepatitis has enticed great interest in a recombinant form which is identical to the natural blood.

Description:
Recombinant human Fibroblast Growth Factor-basic (hFGF-b) is a 16.5 kDa protein containing 153 amino acid residues. Interestingly, hFGF-b contains no hydrophobic leader sequence previously thought to be required for cell secretion. Basic FGF bears 55% homology to acidic FGF and also seems to exist in three forms: the 154 amino-acid form and two other truncated versions of 146 and 131 amino acids lacking the N-terminal 9 and 24 residues. hFGF-b is a heparin binding growth factor which stimulates the proliferation of a wide variety of cells including mesenchymal, neuroectodermal and endothelial cells. It also exerts a potent angiogenic activity in vivo. Acidic and basic FGF compete for the binding to 125 kDa and 145 kDa receptor species. However, acidic FGF has a higher affinity for the 125 kDa species, while basic FGF has a higher affinity for the 145 kDa species. FGF receptor activation leads to the activation of MAP kinase and protein kinase C. In general FGF’s induce the proliferative response in cells derived from mesoderm and neuroectoderm. It seems that basic FGF reduces the average doubling time by shortening the G1 phase of the cell cycle. Furthermore, it has been reported to induce the release of plasminogen activator by endothelial cells. One of the most potentially significant applications of FGF-b is related to its reported ability to induce angiogenesis.

Description:
Recombinant human TGF-β3 is a 25.0 kDa protein composed of two identical 112 amino acid polypeptide chains linked by a single disulfide bond. The three mammalian isoforms of TGF-β, TGF-β1, β2, β3, signal through the same receptor and elicit similar biological responses. They are multifunctional cytokines that regulate cell proliferation, growth, differentiation and motility as well as synthesis and deposition of the extracellular matrix. They are involved in various physiological processes including embryogenesis, tissue remodelling and wound healing. They are secreted predominantly as latent complexes, which are stored at the cell surface and in the extracellular matrix. The release of biologically active TGF-beta isoform from a latent complex involves proteolytic processing of the complex and /or induction of conformational changes by proteins such as thrombospondin-1. The physiological role of TGF-β3 is still unknown but its expression pattern suggests a role in the regulation of certain development processes.

Recombinant murine TGF-beta 3 produced in E. Coli is a homodimeric, disulfide-linked, non-glycosylated protein containing two 113 aa chains with a total molecular mass of 25.7 kDa. So far three TGF-betas have been identified in mammals, they mediate many cell-cell interactions that occur during embryonic development. TGF-beta 1, TGF-beta 2 and TGF-beta 3 are each synthesized as very similar precursor proteins. Each is cleaved to yield a 112 aa protein that remains associated with the latent portion of the molecule.
